Growing up, my grandparents embodied this larger-than-life “70’s cowboy” style. Sure, I was born in the ’80s, but their heyday seeped into the cracks of every year they lived. Ranch parties, front porch cocktail hours, horse rides, rodeos, red boots, gaudy belts, chunky jewelry, four-wheelers, country dinners (and breakfasts), and straight shootin’ words. I hold these things close, behind my eyelids, little snippets of life flickering back to me.

Growing up, my grandparents embodied this larger-than-life “70’s cowboy” style. Sure, I was born in the ’80s, but their heyday seeped into the cracks of every year they lived. Ranch parties, front porch cocktail hours, horse rides, rodeos, red boots, gaudy belts, chunky jewelry, four-wheelers, country dinners (and breakfasts), straight shootin’ words, and above all else, a love for the Southwest.

I hold these memories close, behind my eyelids, in the hope these snippets of life flickering back to me will fade slowly and continue to inspire me.
